Improvised Evening

Good evening!

My night (and my food choices) have been a bit improvised since I last posted. I hung out with some friends tonight and we decided to go out to eat. Sadly, I also forgot my camera- I'm going to have to chain it to my hip now that I'm (mostly) over my shy photographer phase. I'll at least give a recap of my food choices.

My friends and I decided to go to Wegman's since they have a lot of selections (and I needed to pick up a few more groceries for the week). Despite lots of unique foods, all three of us opted for the hot food bar (with Chinese and Indian food), so I got some basmati rice (~3/4 cup) topped with ~1/2 cup chana masala and ~1/2 cup sesame chicken (I couldn't resist, so heartbreaking, yet so tasty) with a side of at least a cup of Jafrezi vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, red and green peppers).

When I came home, I had a beloved little slice of dried pineapple:

An hour or so later, I went to the gym and did some strength training, so this is day one of doing that! I went to the gym at a later time tonight, and I was much more comfortable since it was not as crowded. How do you feel about doing weight/machines/strength training in the gym? Do you like going when it's crowded or kinda empty? Does the free weight/machine section intimidate you too?

Afterward, I came back looking to 'refuel'. I was looking to consume something with at least a little protein, but was first leaning toward s'more cupcake with milk (there's protein somewhere there right?), but instead opted for a Malted Naner smoothie:

1 whole frozen banana, a lil bit of coconut milk and ~2 T malted powder.Again, not sure if this is that much better, or really very good for post-workout, but it was delicious and hey, I tried.

Now that I've started to document my eats, I've observed some things that surprised me. I definitely think a little more about what I eat, i.e. I usually like to 'snack' on bits of different things, here and there. Since I'm trying to hold myself accountable, I think a little bit more about what I'm going to munch on, and usually pick one or two substantial things v.s. 3-4 bit and pieces.

I also am wondering if I'm eating more/less healthy than I did before I started posting my meals? I feel like in some ways I'm snacking on less healthy things than I used to, but eating (for the most part) healthier (i.e.- more wholesome) meals. And when I first thought this, I viewed it as a negative thing, but as I write it out right now, I'm thinking maybe that's okay?

What do you think about your eating habits? If you have a food blog, did you notice small changes in your diet or perception of it once you started blogging?

Wow, that's a lot of questions. If there's anyone out there reading this, please comment or email me with your thoughts!

'Night!

  2. No worries, I'll try my best to remember and to have a bit more variety next week (I know, I ate pretty much the same thing every day) by making smaller portions of things. I also want to try at least one experimental recipe each week, or to change up the recipes I'm using, because I feel about not posting them, but also don't want to violate any copyright.
